A traditional Anglican preparation for Lent was a day to remove fats and rich ingredients from the home kitchen, usually cooked up in pancakes, in anticipation of the more simple and austere meals in the weeks before Easter. This act, often associated with confession, or ‘shriving’, came to be observed on the day before Ash Wednesday. Our own Shrove Tuesday pancake dinner will be at Walker Bros Pancake House in Lincolnshire on March 5th at 6:30 pm. The cost is $15 per person (all inclusive), and we’ll order from the menu. Please bring cash, but don’t let lack of funds keep you from participating.
