ADVENT PRACTICE: SILENCE
Do you struggle to know how to engage with God in the middle of your busy life? If so, you’re not alone.
During Advent, we invite you to create some space through the week to encounter the Lord through the spiritual practice of silence.
Why silence? In the midst of the noise of the holiday season, Advent can feel like just one more thing on our “to-do” list. Practicing times of intentional silence with the Lord, even for just 10 minutes, helps us resist more “doing” by simply “being” with the Lord.
We’ve created an Advent resource with an introduction to the spiritual practice of silence, as well as prompts for practicing silence each week of the season (see below). You can also pick up a hard copy at the worship service this Sunday.
Through silence, we can “prepare a place” in our hearts even as we pray, “Come, Lord Jesus, come.”
