CORE VALUES

Worshiping

We are made to worship, and we gather as God’s people to worship in Word and Sacrament through the power of the Holy Spirit. Our Anglican worship, based in ancient practice yet focused on the future, leads us to encounter God in dynamic and passionate ways that are transforming and call us into love and service.  Common Prayer is a vital part of our worship and life together as we are healed and restored.

Belonging

We are people called into authentic relationships that express the love, intimacy, and unity of God as revealed in the relationship of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.  Church of the Redeemer seeks to be a safe place where we can authentically look into the face of God and each other, and learn to be who we really are.

Believing

What we believe really is important.  It shapes who we are and what we do.  At Church of the Redeemer we believe and affirm those convictions that Christians have held as central to the faith for two thousand years.  They are based in the Scriptures and summarized in the historic creeds and the 39 Articles of Religion.   Read our Statement of Faith.

Becoming

Healthy living things grow, and as those on a journey following Jesus, we have many opportunities to learn, to grow and be transformed.  As a community we are seeking to live this out, incarnationally, in ways that help us to become faithful disciples of Jesus Christ as we are being transformed into His likeness.

Telling the Story

The people of God have a great story to tell—the story of God’s love and redemption.  And we tell this in ways that enable us to listen to each other in order to see how God’s Story is being woven with our own stories, as individuals and as a People.

Reaching Out

We are a church on mission—part of a community of mission churches in our country.  This means we seek to live out the Great Commission and the Great Commandment of Jesus together, serving others in love as whole persons, for the sake of the Gospel.  Evangelism, caring and social justice are held together as things we are called to be engaged in as God’s people.

Connecting Globally

The Church of the Redeemer was founded as a missionary church of the Anglican Province of Rwanda.  We are closely connected to the Global South and the tremendous expansion of the church in Africa, Asia and South America.  We are also people who come from various cultures and locations in the world, and are committed to seeing and living in the world as “global Christians.”
