Sallie, we had to be ready with both long and short sleeves…Parts of Rwanda are just like Colorado: fairly cool in the shade, but hot out in the sun. Although just south of the equator, there is quite a bit of elevation. So generally, while Chicago was roasting away, it was in the 70’s most of the time. Remember, it’s winter there (such as it is). Their seasonal changes are generally rainy/dry rather than cold/ hot. I actually loved the weather there, although the thin air of elevation and proximity to the equator make sun exposure a real problem. It will get hotter for them as the months of the dry season continue, however (July and August).
Great images! What’s with the long sleeves in Africa? It’s 90 degrees in Chicago…was it cooler in Rwanda?
