First thing Monday morning, the Bishop drove us to visit and observe one of the preschools started by the Shira diocese. Starting preschools is one of the diocese’s major initiatives – and it is proving to be very successful, allowing Rwandan mothers to go to work and keeping the children safe during the day, in addition to serving as a connection point between the diocese and the community. Susan is going to be training some of the preschool teachers in the next couple of days and wanted to see what a classroom is like, so we went with her to a preschool sponsored by the same church at which Matthew Andris ended up preaching during his time in Rwanda.
